Barney maintains the equipment and the space that it occupies, known as the "High Bay". He uses his 20 years of experience gained at the Battelle Memorial Institute to put The testing equipment of Materials Science & Engineering in order and keep it running. Barney also lends the High Bay for use by the department for the informal weinie roasts (organized by Gary Dodge) which traditionally welcome new faculty and staff members.
